70% of Women and Girls in South Africa experience Physical, Sexual Violence & Abuse including Rape & Femicide. WhireRibbon.Org.Za provides a way forward to end this Violence through education, awareness raising, creative campaigns, preventative programs, partnerships, mentor-ships, advocates and ambassadors. White Ribbon South Africa provides the tools and programs for men to engage other men and to end this violence against women and girls in their homes, communities, workplaces, schools, varsities and beyond.
The Economist says Violence and Abuse against Women and Girls has reached epidemic proportions in South Africa. Some studies show that up to 70 per cent of women and girls have experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime including Rape. Statistics South Africa reported that the murder rate for women increased drastically by 117% between 2015 and 20117. Yet very little is done by way of programs to educate men and boys that Violence and Abuse against Women and Girls is WRONG !
Using the very successful methods of the White Ribbon Campaigns around the world. By providing workshops and classes in workplaces, schools, sports, clubs, trade unions and local communities to develop a better understanding about the root causes of violence and ways to prevent it. Building a network of ambassadors and advocates to challenge male violence and abuse against women and girls, intervening when violence and abuse occurs, and being positive role models to other men and boys
Through education, awareness-raising, outreach, technical assistance, capacity building, and partnerships, using the White Ribbon’s globally successful tool-kits WhiteRibbon.Org.Za challenges the negative, outdated concepts of manhood and inspire South African men to understand and embrace the incredible potential they have to be a part of positive change. White Ribbon South Africa is a part of the largest global movement of men and boys working to end men’s violence against women. Through ongoing programmes of education and mentor-ship in schools, workplaces and communities, supported by the Joe Slovo Foundation the mission is to end Violence against Women and Girls in South Africa so that all women and girls can live in safety without fear of physical, sexual psychological or verbal abuse.

Through these programs and campaigns, WhiteRibbon.Org.Za encourages and empowers men and boys to be part of the social change needed to prevent murder, rape, violence and all forms of abuse against women and girls in South Africa.
